GRS Apprentices - Hopefuls to go down under with the JIB

Wednesday, 26th June 2013 GRS Apprentices - Hopefuls to go down under with the JIB

The JIB Overseas Apprentice Exchange Scheme was launched in 2010 and has been a popular aspiration for many young electrical apprentices. This year, three hopefuls from GRS Electrical have entered the competition with the aim to win a contract in Queensland, Australia with the JIB's work exchange programme.

The lucky UK Winner will spend six weeks living and working with local employers 'down under', with all costs met by the JIB. This once in a lifetime experience will also include meetings with senior figures from within the industry in both the UK and Oz as well as the important role of being an ambassador of our British Electrical Industry abroad.

The 2012 winner, Luke Wheeler, travelled to New York and became part of a project on the Empire State Building, no less! Where will this years exchange take the winner? We'll post more updates on this story as soon as we have any news, but all that remains to say for now is a huge 'Good Luck' to this years GRS Electrical Services' applications.

17/07/2013 - One of our three apprentices has now advanced to one of the final stages in the exchange programme assessment. Jason Smith is now one of the four remaining candidates left in the assessment process and we are very excited about his prospects of being able to take part in the exchange.

It's an amazing achievement for Jason to be in the 'final four' of the interview stages and his ideas on industry/training improvements have gone down very well with the schemes' assessors.

A huge 'Well Done' from us all here Jason and we have everything crossed for the last phases of the exchange!
